Dating for Your Online Dating
The search for romantic partners takes place through online dating. For this, Consonance provides a matchmaking service that, based on a psychological matching algorithm, searches for suitable people over time and suggests them. The special feature of Consonance’s matchmaking is that we combine the individuality and support of classic matchmaking with the efficiency and expanded search scope of online matchmaking, and additionally with a psychological approach. We match according to compatibility of values. This goes beyond what dating apps offer their users.
Dating for Your Friendship Search
The search for friends, travel companions, projects, communities, professional collaborations, or shared activities takes place within the framework of friendship search. This is done either through friendship matching with a psychological algorithm or through the contact lists, where members can enter their projects, communities, activities, or professional collaborations and contact each other.
Incidentally, love relationships between Consonance (Gleichklang) members sometimes develop not through matchmaking but through the contact lists during shared time at projects and activities or through friendship search. In this respect, Consonance offers various options and opportunities for finding a partner.
Fees and Financing
The financing and further development of the Consonance (Gleichklang) community is funded by a fair and affordable fee paid by all members. This fee can be socially reduced so that participation at Consonance is not hindered by financial means, even in cases of acute financial hardship. Membership at Consonance enables the use of all offerings and opportunities of our platform without additional costs. Each member can activate or deactivate online dating or friendship search at any time.
While well-known online matchmaking services charge many hundreds of EUR for participation per year and classic matchmaking agencies charge many thousands of EUR in fees, Consonance makes online dating affordable for everyone, even with a limited budget. At Consonance, no one is excluded from the opportunities of online dating for finding a partner and finding friends.
Membership at Consonance does not necessarily have to end with a successful partner search. Because throughout people’s lives, it is repeatedly important in various moments to meet like-minded people, whether as friends, travel companions, professional collaboration partners, members of a community, or project partners.
Societal Orientation
Consonance (Gleichklang) is more than a typical singles site, a dating app, or a matchmaking service. Behind Consonance stands a psychologically based and ideologically social-ecologically oriented network for effective online dating, friendship search, travel partner search, and social networking in all life situations.
We value a friendly, open, and caring interaction with each other in the Consonance (Gleichklang) community. This also includes appreciation for the diversity of sexual orientations and gender identities. All members of Consonance accept the community rules of such a solidarity-based coexistence. Membership at Consonance requires a willingness to interact with each other in a humane way. We do not want misogynistic, sexist, insulting, dehumanizing, or otherwise degrading behavior at Consonance, as is unfortunately common on dating apps.
Dating as Green Dating
While diverse and different positions and views are represented in the Consonance (Gleichklang) community under the common ecological-social umbrella, there are also political-ideological orientations that are not compatible with our community:
- Not compatible with the basic orientation of the Consonance community are right-wing populist or right-wing extremist positions, racism, xenophobia, anti-Semitism, sexism, and misogyny. Incompatible with the Consonance community are also homophobia or biphobia, discrimination against people with non-binary gender or transidentity, as well as the denial of the profound environmental problems on our planet (such as man-made climate change).
- Also, a proximity to positions of right-wing populist parties, such as the AfD in Germany, the FPÖ in Austria, or the SVP in Switzerland, is not compatible with the orientation of the Consonance community. Völkisch-ecological projects are also not compatible with Consonance.
- Explicitly, Consonance is a community that advocates for animal rights in addition to ecology and diversity, which is why Consonance as a community supports plant-based nutrition and advocates for it. Activities and hobbies that are associated with the killing of animals, such as hunting, angling, or fishing, are not compatible with membership at Consonance.
All Consonance (Gleichklang) members share a commitment to ecology, compassion, solidarity, and humanity. Many members of Consonance live vegan. Through the Consonance community, appreciative and loving relationships develop between people who want to bring more humanity, kindness, and solidarity into the world together. Depending on their own wishes for social networking, Consonance members use all or some of the search options available at Consonance – from online matchmaking to friendship matching to community contact lists.

Differences from Dating Apps
Consonance (Gleichklang) has similarities and differences to dating apps. Like dating apps, Consonance is a dating site, so it enables people to meet other people for romantic and intimate relationships. However, dating apps provide almost exclusively photos and geodata for this purpose. On dating apps, meeting is therefore based solely on external attractiveness and spatial convenience. In contrast, at Consonance, the determination of compatibility of life concepts, values, relationship models, and life goals is at the forefront. Unlike a dating app, Consonance is therefore not about quick contacts, flirting, liveliness, entertainment, or virtual chats, but about building sustainable interpersonal relationships. Differences from Other Online Matchmaking Services
Online matchmaking services also have similarities and differences:
- As an online matchmaking service, Consonance (Gleichklang) places value, like these services, on ensuring that only people whose online dating is serious participate in the matchmaking. Similar to other matchmaking services, Consonance uses a psychological matching algorithm to bring suitable people together.
Unlike well-known online matchmaking services, Consonance is a value-oriented Green Dating platform that wants to bring together people who want to make this world a little better together through their relationships. Ecology, plant-based lifestyle, solidarity, diversity, but also minimalism are essential basic concepts for many Consonance members.
Free trial participation is avoided because it leads to an influx of unserious profiles and, in our assessment, is just a tactic to attract people to expensive premium offers. This maximizes the seriousness of intentions of all members. At the same time, we rely on fair, affordable, and socially reduced fees.
The matching algorithm at Consonance for matchmaking and friendship matching prioritizes individual preferences, wishes, values, relationship models, and life goals, while most online matchmaking services tend to use more general personality traits.
Dating as Diversity and Inclusion
Consonance (Gleichklang) is a meeting community of members who determine resulting suggestions themselves through the specification of their search criteria and can then contact each other. Members decide for themselves according to their current life situation whether they are searching for partnership, friendship, travel companions, projects, professional collaborations, or communities. They can also switch between these different searches, activate or deactivate them at any time.
In online dating, members can search for different relationship models to find suitable people for a lasting and happy love relationship. The spectrum ranges from committed monogamous relationships with sexual fidelity, to open relationships, swinger relationships, or polyamorous relationships. This matching principle is based on scientific, psychological findings showing that some people become happier in a monogamous relationship while others become happier in a consensually non-monogamous relationship.
Further different design possibilities of relationships are also supported by our matchmaking, such as shared living, separate apartments (Living Apart Together), or long-distance relationships. In matchmaking, we also consider members’ wishes for a rather close relationship with a lot of spatial proximity and togetherness or a stronger focus on independence. Our goal is to bring together those people who can lead a happy and meaningful life together.

Community Etiquette
We ask our members to observe the following etiquette:
- As a dating platform, online matchmaking service, and friendship matching service, Consonance (Gleichklang) derives matching suggestions based on psychological principles. Behind every matching suggestion stands a person seeking a relationship. Delivered matching suggestions should always be taken seriously and reviewed.
- Incoming messages should be answered. All matching suggestions result from the search criteria specified by the members themselves, so a review can be expected. We also ask that messages from other members be answered, as otherwise disappointment and frustration arise.
- Of course, criticism is allowed, but members of Consonance should express it constructively, refrain from insults or abuse, and communicate respectfully with each other. This includes accepting the boundaries of another member, even if a member indicates that further contact is no longer desired.
- The Consonance team is obliged to respond to all inquiries, suggestions, or criticisms from members and to incorporate them into the further development of the community as far as possible. Due to the enormous number of incoming messages, we ask for understanding that a response may sometimes take a few days.
