- Who is Gleichklang?Gleichklang is an alternative dating platform for finding partners, friends, and travel companions for nature-loving, environmentally conscious, animal-loving, and socially minded people. Gleichklang also offers the opportunity to search for projects and communities, as well as shared activities in nature beyond the consumer society. Matching is based on compatibility of fundamental values, lifestyles, desires, and needs. All members are genuine and up-to-date. Gleichklang does not offer free memberships that lead to file spam, fake profiles, or outdated information. Gleichklang is ad-free and financed solely through an annual membership fee, with social discounts available. As a partner agency and dating platform, Gleichklang differs fundamentally from other dating sites and especially from dating apps. Dating apps rely on a system of short-term rewards, distractions, and gamification. This structure is designed to keep users on the platforms but undermines the willingness to commit. A recent study confirms this, showing that on the world’s largest dating app, more than two-thirds of users are actually in a relationship. At Gleichklang, we forgo short-term reward incentives and gamification elements, instead focusing our efforts on genuine relationship building.
What are the chances of finding a partner? We have analyzed data from over 29,000 current and former Gleichklang members. We can now provide precise information about the success rate: 36% of members who persevered for at least a year found success with Gleichklang. The success rate doubles after two years. These figures are excellent for a dating and friendship service. Partnerships and friendships are by no means easy to find, yet they are among the most important aspects of life. Furthermore, two-thirds of Gleichklang members had previously searched unsuccessfully on other dating platforms. These figures also underestimate the success rates: Those who found a partner elsewhere during their Gleichklang membership, for example, through other dating sites, are likely to have even more success. For example, if someone met someone in real life, this was counted as a failure in Gleichklang’s evaluation, even though they were no longer available for matchmaking through us. The evaluations show that Gleichklang offers very good chances of success in finding a partner or friend. This also applies to people who have previously been unsuccessful on other dating platforms. - Who is looking for love and friendship at Gleichklang? At Gleichklang, everyone is welcome who identifies with our company philosophy of a dating platform for ecologically and socially minded people. The vast majority of Gleichklang members place particular emphasis on an ecological lifestyle. The well-being of animals is also important to the majority of our members. Currently, 27% of our members are vegetarians (they don’t eat meat or fish), and almost 7% of our members are vegans (they don’t eat any animal products). This is far more than in the general population, where the corresponding figures are only 3% for vegetarians and approximately 1% for vegans. Are those members who are not currently vegetarian or vegan taken into account?
Of our members who currently live a vegetarian or vegan lifestyle but would like to change this in the future, approximately 50% are either already vegetarians or vegans, or they plan to become so.
What is the gender ratio? At Gleichklang, 54% of members are women, 44% are men, and 2% are non-binary. So, we have more women than men. This is because women tend to use more serious dating sites online, while men are more prevalent on erotic, flirting, and extramarital dating platforms. Therefore, a higher proportion of women than men on dating platforms is a sign of quality (see blog article). The matchmaking rates for men and women are almost identical, although the search takes slightly longer for women on average. Non-binary individuals also show comparable matchmaking rates to those of male or female genders.
What sexual orientations and gender identities are represented on Gleichklang? At Gleichklang, heterosexual, gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, asexual, and pansexual people are looking for partners and friendships. Incidentally, the proportion of Gleichklang members who are looking exclusively or also for same-sex partners is approximately 20% and is distributed almost equally among men, women, and non-binary individuals. Accordingly, approximately 80% of members are looking for a partner of the opposite sex. Women, men, and non-binary individuals participate, including transgender and intersex individuals.
What about costs? Gleichklang offers only paid memberships. This allows us to guarantee that only genuine profiles are present here. Fake profiles, image collectors, and multiple profiles often ruin the process of getting to know someone. This is not the case with us. Gleichklang’s fees are fair and socially responsible (see price list). Our standard annual fee is €129. Those who cannot afford this can choose the reduced rate of €79 per year – however, this rate does not cover our costs. Anyone experiencing financial hardship is welcome to email us so we can offer a reduced rate of €24 or €6 per year. At Gleichklang, only full memberships offer equal benefits. Our motto is: “Low fees for everyone, instead of premium for some.”
Does membership renew automatically? Membership is automatically renewed for another year unless canceled. You can cancel up to the last day with a simple click in your personal account area. We inform you about membership renewal in various places, including the fee schedule, the welcome email, the subscription section in your account area, and the Terms and Conditions.
How are the suggestions derived? A computationally intensive matching algorithm, which takes several hours per cycle, ensures the best possible matchmaking. Therefore, suggestions are not displayed immediately after you start your membership. The matching algorithm first matches you based on your preferences and lifestyle. Numerous compatibility criteria are then considered as inclusion or exclusion criteria. Examples include: age range, location, vegetarianism or veganism, single parent status, search for monogamous or non-monogamous partners, relationship orientations, ecological, spiritual, or animal welfare values, minimalism, high sensitivity, health consciousness, desire for marriage and children, specific partnership and sexuality patterns (e.g., bisexual relationships, platonic relationships), physical characteristics, acceptance of physical or mental illnesses or disabilities, religious beliefs, and core interests.
Is free scrolling through profiles possible? No! Members participate in the matching process and receive suggestions for suitable partners as soon as they are in the database. Free scrolling through profiles is not possible in order to prevent constant interference and the development of a consumerist mindset that could hinder the success of the search. We deliberately avoid processes that create short-term variety and fun, but reduce the long-term chances of finding a partner or friend.
How many suggestions are there? The Gleichklang principle is: “Limited number of suitable suggestions”
The process takes time to achieve success. The goal is not to offer as many suggestions as possible, but rather the most suitable ones. The process only ends when a relationship has developed. The number of suggestions depends on your personal characteristics, the search criteria you specify, and their distribution in the Gleichklang database (see blog article). On average, men currently receive 143.57 suggestions during their membership, while women receive an average of 94.89. Gleichklang is a small online community, primarily in Germany and to a lesser extent in Austria and Switzerland, comprised of socially and ecologically minded individuals who are seriously seeking partnerships, friendships, or travel companions. Therefore, even with a limited regional search or… The combination of other restrictive search criteria can lead to few suggestions and longer waiting times for them. There are members (currently less than 2%) who, due to specific search and matching criteria, initially receive no suggestions or very few suggestions over time and must expect longer waiting times. This applies more frequently to members from Austria and Switzerland, especially if they are only searching within their own countries. However, there is also the opposite case, where a member receives several hundred suggestions within a very short time, even though we have already implemented limiting processes. In this case, we recommend suspending the generation of further suggestions, which can be adjusted at any time. Furthermore, in such cases, if the suggestions received so far have not led to success, it is advisable to adjust the search criteria to be more restrictive for future matches. If problems arise, we are happy to advise on possible and sensible changes to the search criteria upon request.
How long does it typically take to find a partner or friends? Partnerships and friendships are not as easy to arrange as selling goods. For some members, success is almost instantaneous. Some find a partner immediately, while others take several years. Typically, a long-term search process and necessary membership renewals are to be expected. Success can only be expected with sufficient patience. Gleichklang’s fees are so low that everyone can afford a multi-year membership. As a specialized dating platform, Gleichklang is geared towards long-term memberships. Those primarily focused on numerous contacts and speed should refrain from a Gleichklang membership and instead use other dating sites or chat options.
How do members communicate with each other? Suggested members can communicate anonymously with each other using a provided encryption system. Our Community Rules obligate members to treat each other with respect and solidarity, including viewing suggested matches and responding to incoming messages from members. However, we cannot guarantee compliance with these rules or enforce them with sanctions (individual responsibility of the members). Members).
