Dating worldwide is embedded in market-oriented profit structures that often lead to people being excluded for social reasons.
This also affects Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. Many people – such as recipients of Hartz IV or basic security, top-up benefit recipients, refugees, or other persons in precarious living situations – cannot afford the regular fees of commercial dating platforms.
As a value-oriented dating platform, Consonance (Gleichklang) considers it a central concern that no one is excluded from partner search, the search for friendships, projects, or communities.
Emancipatory and Solidarity-Based Dating at Consonance (Gleichklang)
We implement the claim of solidarity-based dating through a special fee system that is designed collectively and solidaristically and explicitly includes social discounts:
- The social discount is part of this solidarity-based model. In acute financial hardship, we offer a heavily reduced annual fee of 24 EUR as standard. On request, this fee can be reduced to 6 EUR per year. In cases of extreme hardship, even a symbolic reduction to 1 EUR is possible. This social discount is not cost-covering; Consonance (Gleichklang) solidaristically covers the difference.
Conversely, members with greater financial resources contribute to the long-term sustainability of the social discount by choosing the standard rate. In this way, the platform is collectively financed and social participation is made a concrete reality.
Unfortunately, the social discount is sometimes also used by persons who could easily afford a regular membership. However, the social discount is not intended to save money. It serves exclusively to enable people in genuine financial need to participate.
Please therefore carefully check whether an acute financial hardship exists. If you need the social discount, choose it without hesitation. However, if you can afford the regular membership, we expressly ask you to choose the standard rate. Only in this way can the solidarity-based model be maintained in the long term.
How to Apply for the Social Discount at Consonance (Gleichklang)
The social discount is automatically offered by entering an action code during registration. The action code must be entered directly in the registration process; subsequent conversion is not technically possible automatically. If the code was accidentally not entered, please contact the team so that the social discount can be manually added.
